Camp Sunshine Christmas Gift Drive
For the past four years I have asked all of you to provide Christmas gift items for the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. During that time you have created wonderful smiles on the faces of countless children by contributing more than 1,200 items during that span of time. I thank you with all my heart for that effort.
This year USASB of GA is starting a Christmas drive to aid the children of “Camp Sunshine” and their families during the Holidays. Camp Sunshine is a program that assists families dealing with childhood cancer. Over the years most of us have unfortunately know children and their families in our Softball World who are dealing with this horrible childhood disease. Most often the expense of ongoing extensive treatment is more than a family can bear.
So, what I am asking for this year is not toys or wrapped gifts. The Camp would prefer that gift cards (preferably Wal-Mart or Visa) be sent. Camp Sunshine kids live throughout the state and more often than not have limited resources to buy gifts, food, pay bills, etc. during the Holiday Season.
I have personal knowledge of how much these kids need Camp Sunshine and their support. I lost one of my wonderful players, Stephanie Phillips to this dreaded disease. Camp Sunshine provided so much support to Stephanie and her family up to, and following the day we lost her.
Please send cards of $25.00 or more to:
Vicki Cherry, Camper Services
1850 Clairmont Rd.
Decatur, GA 30033
Please include USASB of GA and the team you represent. The deadline for contributions is Monday, December 10.
Thank you so much!
