USA SOFTBALL OF GEORGIA LAUNCHES JUNIOR OLYMPIC SERIES EVENTS IN 2018
USA Softball of Georgia is pleased to offer an exciting new program for Georgia J.O. 12U, 14U, 16U, & 18U teams. The program is designed to provide affordable games with reasonable game time limits, and an opportunity to earn a berth to a 2018 USA Softball National Championship event. The events are being scheduled early in the season so as not to interfere with the busy late spring qualifiers and summer showcases.
There are five (5) events scheduled throughout the state in an effort to allow teams from all points in Georgia. The dates and sites are; March 30 – 31 in Woodstock, April 7 – 8 in Dublin, April 13 – 15 in Calhoun, April 28 – 29 in Marietta, and May 4 – 6 in Columbus. The format for play is a round-robin format with each team playing five (5) games at each event. In the event that fewer than six (6) teams do not enter in a respective age group the entry fee will be reduced based on the number of games played.
A “point system” will be used to determine the winners of the National berths. Each win will count as 3 points, a tie will count as 1.5 points, and teams will receive 2 points for each Olympic Series event entered. The base entry fee is $375.00 and a possible $125.00 gate fee where applicable.
All participating team must be registered on; registerusasoftball.com. To enter an event go to; tournamentusasoftball.com. For more information about each event contact the tournament director indicated for the specific event. Official entry is limited to the first eight (8) teams submitting their entry fee and gate fee if applicable. Registration fees may be submitted (30) days prior to, and close (10) days prior to, the event start date. At that time a final list of participants for each respective series will be provided and a game schedule set. Refunds will not be sent after that time.
(RULES OF PLAY REVISED 4/1/18)
Games will be played under current year USA Softball Playing rules, with USASB registered umpires. Games time will be 1 hour 30 minutes, “finish the inning”. If the game remains tied at the end of the final inning the game will be listed as a tie in the standings.
